What Does Dog Insurance Cover?
SPOT On Coverage helps with the cost of injuries and emergencies if your dog gets in an accident. Accident injuries include bites, cuts, broken bones, lodged foreign objects, and toxin ingestion.
Sick day? SPOT On Coverage reimburses you when your pup needs to see the vet for thyroid diseases, digestive problems, UTIs, cancer, and other illnesses. We help cover exam fees, too.
SPOT recognizes that dogs, like people, can inherit conditions like heart disease, eye disorders and hip dysplasia. We help with the bill when these conditions arise, too (just no pre-existing condition coverage).
A chronic condition requires care across multiple plan periods, and we cover those, too! If your pup has diabetes, arthritis or other reoccurring issues, we help you cover the bills that make them more comfortable.
Wait... there’s more!
There are all sorts of alternative therapies now We take a holistic approach to health, and to dog health insurance. If your pup needs to see a licensed alternative therapy specialist for a covered condition, SPOT On Coverage can reimburse you. Common alternative therapies include:
- Chiropractic Care
- Rehabilitative Therapy
- Low-level laser therapy
We know that good training and having a trusting relationship is important for a dog’s health. Our accident and illness plans can help cover the cost of veterinary visits for concerning behaviors. Submit claims when you see an approved animal behaviorist for issues like:
- Excessive licking
- Destruction of the home
- Fur pulling
- Other compulsive behaviors

What's Not Covered?
Like all pet insurance providers, we have exclusions.
Pre-existing Conditions (?)
No pet insurance provider covers pre-existing conditions, which are conditions that occur before coverage begins or during a waiting period. However, we will no longer consider a condition to be pre-existing if it has been cured and free of symptoms and treatment for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. If a knee or ligament condition occurs before the coverage effective date or during a waiting period, any future ones won’t be covered.
Our plans do not cover elective procedures, such as tail docking, ear cropping, and claw removal.
Our plans do not cover costs associated with breeding or pregnancy.
Coverage for preventive care, like annual wellness exams, vaccines, and screenings, is not included in this plan. You can add preventive care coverage for a little more per month after you select your base plan.
