Comparing pet insurance providers can be overwhelming for pet parents without some help. Whether you’re looking into alternative therapies or managing a pet with a chronic condition, you want to make sure you get the pet care you need. Exam fees and veterinary care can start to add up. That’s why we’re back with another insurance comparison guide.
We’re looking at the differences between Spot Pet Insurance plan offerings and those from MetLife Pet Insurance. We’re evaluating core differences in these pet insurance plans, such as deductibles and discounts. Having information you need should help you choose the right pet insurance plan for your furry family members.
When you enroll in pet insurance, the biggest decision is which kind of plan you’ll choose. Every provider varies in terms of what kind of plans they offer and what is covered under each. Most offer an Accident & Illness plan, some offer Accident-only plans.
Many factors can influence your plan of choice, but having diverse and customizable options is helpful for finding exactly the right fit for you.
At Spot Pet Insurance, our highly customizable plan options include an Accident-only plan option for those looking to spend less on premiums and get coverage for unexpected accidents only.
With MetLife, there is no Accident-only plan option available.
Microchipping is helpful way to locate and reunite with your pet should they become lost, which is why we believe it’s essential for pet owners.
Microchip implantation coverage is included with base plans offered by Spot Pet Insurance. Plans provided by MetLife only include coverage for microchipping as an optional add-on for an extra cost.
Base plans provided by Spot Pet Insurance include coverage for Rx foods and supplements when prescribed by a licensed vet to treat covered conditions (excluding general maintenance or weight management).
MetLife does offer coverage for Rx food, but only through add-ons for an extra cost.
