One of the first factors potential policyholders consider is what plans are offered.
The core type of plan at most insurance providers is “accident and illness.” These plans cover a variety of needs, while some providers (such as Spot Pet) also offer Accident-only plans and wellness/preventive care add-ons.
Having options when it comes to the pet insurance policy you choose, as well as the levels of cost and reimbursement associated, can be the key to finding the right fit for you. Every pet family has different needs. You should be able to choose what’s best in your situation.
At Bivvy, however, pet insurance is limited to a single option for your deductibles, reimbursement rates, and coverage plans.
All Bivvy pet insurance plans are for accidents and illness. That means pet parents who would prefer Accident-only coverage are out of luck, whereas we offer such a plan at Spot Pet Insurance to cover those unexpected encounters.
Following the question of customizable plans further, our Spot Pet insurance has flexible options, while Bivvy offers no choices to work with different budgets.
At Spot Pet Insurance, you can choose between $100, $200, or $500 annual deductibles. This means you only have to meet the deductible once during a calendar year before we start paying coverage.
You can also set up Spot Pet plans with a 70, 80, or 90 percent reimbursement rate. Additionally, we have no lifetime or per-incident limits, and we offer a variety of annual limits, starting at $2500.
On the other hand, Bivvy has a $100 per incident deductible for all their policyholders, which means you’ll need to satisfy that amount every time your pet needs coverage.
After the deductible, Bivvy only reimburses 50 percent of the covered costs, while your coinsurance (the amount you pay) is also 50 percent.
Lastly, Bivvy’s annual limit is $2000, with no option to increase it. Bivvy also has a $25,000 lifetime limit in place for each pet.
Aside from the core differences in costs and payment, there are also some differences in what’s covered in core and add-on wellness plans.
At Bivvy, you’ll need to purchase an additional wellness plan for microchip coverage, whereas Spot Pet Insurance includes microchip implants in core plans.
Dental cleaning is another feature that Spot Pet includes in our Gold and Platinum preventive plans, while Bivvy has no options for covering dental cleanings.Lemonade pet health insurance, on the other hand, only offers a five percent discount.
At Spot Pet, we’re big believers that more does equal merrier! We also recognize it often means more costs for pet care.
We’re glad to offer a 10 percent discount when you enroll multiple pets with Spot Pet Insurance.
There are no multi pet discounts at Bivvy pet insurance.
Finding the perfect pet insurance company for you can be easier than expected with some help. Whether you’re concerned about getting your pet prescription medications or they need an x-ray to check for a chronic condition, you have options.
