spot pet insurance vs Figo

Spot Pet Insurance places the wellbeing of pets at the center of our first-class coverage. We believe pets deserve the same caliber of healthcare that people receive. We’re dedicated to a world of healthier pets and happier owners, and that dedication has led us to create comprehensive coverage that outperforms the competition. The list below highlights five significant ways that Spot provides superior coverage to the pet insurance offered by Figo.

Pet Care Requirement

Spot Pet Insurance trusts you to know what’s best for your pet. We won’t deny a claim in the event of things like your pet missing a veterinary checkup or a teeth cleaning. There are no Spot policy requirements on the scheduling of pet exams, dental care, vaccinations, or preventive medications. Those are your decisions and won’t interfere with coverage.

Figo however imposes several policy requirements that you must follow or your claims may be rejected. Reimbursement may be denied if you fail to bring your pet in for an annual checkup, a yearly dental exam, and a possibly a cleaning. Your pet’s vaccination records will need to be current, per the recommendation of your veterinarian. Preventative medications must also be administered for fleas, ticks, lice, and additional parasites.

Hassle-free Preventive Care

Spot Pet Insurance provides the option of preventative care for as little as $9.95 a month, which reimburses you a set amount for a list of services that safeguard your pet from future health concerns through measures like vaccines, flea/heartworm preventatives, and dental cleanings. There is no deductible cost or co-pay required.

Figo doesn’t provide the option of reimbursement for preventative services. Yet they do make it a requirement that you secure several preventative care services, including vaccines, dental cleanings, and an annual checkup.

Exam Fees

Exam fees are included for covered conditions in Spot coverage.

With Figo, having exam fees covered will cost you an add-on fee.

Prescription Supplements & Food

Spot Pet Insurance reimburses you for prescription supplements and foods (excluding weight maintenance) when scripted by your vet to treat covered conditions.

Bladder stones and crystals are the only two conditions for which Figo covers prescription food and supplements, with coverage limited at no more than six months.

More Experience

Experience is a wise consideration when weighing who you’re going to trust to have the backs of you and your pets.

Ask how long a company has been in the industry. That’s a solid indicator of not only their longevity but their expertise. After all, you don’t stay in business for long without designing solid coverage and satisfying your customers. The United States Fire Insurance Company underwrites all of Spot’s policies, and they’ve been providing leading insurance since 1822.

Figo’s policies have three different underwriters, founded in 1973, 1980, and 1986.
